There are three main types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma. Signs of Skin Cancer: Basal Cell Carcinoma: Pearly or waxy bump on the skin. Flat, flesh-colored or brown scar-like lesion. Pinkish patch of skin that may be shiny or scaly. Red, irritated, or sometimes bleeding sore that doesn't heal. Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Firm, red nodule. Flat sore with a scaly crust. Raised growth or lump with a central depression. Wart-like growth. Melanoma: Asymmetrical mole. Irregular borders. Uneven coloring, often with different shades of brown or black. Diameter greater than 6mm (size of a pencil eraser). Evolving or changing mole.
